So, the blog. A little insight to what’s been going on in my life for the last few weeks. And to be fair it’s been mental.

I started a new job for one thing, and a brilliant new job at that. I’m Marketing Officer at Bristol Old Vic and it’s fabbo. The people are great and I feel a big part of the team already….so here’s some news from BOV…

Bristol Old Vic - the future…
On Thursday 17 September Bristol Old Vic’s new Artistic and Executive directors, Tom Morris and Emma Stenning, hosted their first public meeting. In front of an auditorium of Bristol based artists and members of the public keen to hear an outline of their plans for the theatre, they did just that! To read what they said, click here.

6 Characters in Search of an Author
Meanwhile we have been very, very, very, very, very busy promoting Pirandello’s 6 Characters in Search of an Author which opened on 26 September and runs until 10 October. I am seeing it tonight so will let you know what it’s like…it looks amazing - here’s a little synopsis:

Six strangers appear unannounced during the editing of a docu-drama declaring themselves fictional characters in search of an author. As their compelling narrative unfolds, the documentary maker begins to film their story, and reality and fiction become increasingly blurred. This stunning play is a parable for a media obsessed age and an exhilarating exploration of how we define ourselves in the 21st Century.

Watch this space for Skelcey’s opinion! You can read more and book here and even view a little trailer!

Bristol Jam
The mind boggling Bristol Jam, which bears many fruits and secrets and will showcase the amazing Beardyman - it’s worth going just for him. Bristol Jam is, as far as we know, the first ever British Festival of Improvised Performance….check it all out on the ning network and join our fun. You can do that here

The weekend
Meanwhile everything is fabbo in the world of theatre and the life of The Skelce. Had a smashing weekend being half lazy/half productive (rather like half man/half biscuit) and spent a lot of time discussing the value of arts (fuelled by a little G juice). Not to mention people watching - wowzers there are some seriously bad 80s outfits out there (and some rather fine ones, too)…

Strictly Come Dancing
I don’t know what I think about this yet, I am normally an addict but for some reason I am just not feeling it this year (yet) let’s hope it picks up now that everyone will be dancing together… Got to hand it to Ricky for ability and Natalie for enthusiasm though! I want to learn…

G-Juice
Which reminds me of something else close to my heart - Happy Birthday Arthur, thank you so much for bringing Guinness into our lives, we love you.

Arf FF (fantasy football)
And huge congratulations to my friend Barbara whose Fantasy Football Team is of such exceptional quality that she came last this week with -8. Awesome score, I am so proud.

If I could just keep up the fitness that would be great…hmmm…my running club - I promise to see you soon!

Ooooooooooooooooooh and Waking The Dead - can’t wait for the second part of that show which I’ll have to watch tomorrow - it’s brilliant!! Trevor Eve rocks my world.
